From on top of the Goal Post
I must say the Reapers Men's team with their Kukri Jerseys' look pretty sharp. If looks could kill, the Men's team would be a cross between the LA SWAT Team and Matthew McConaughey (my wife told me to pick him). Since the new Jerseys’ the Reaper Men have remained undefeated in league play. The professional look has carried into the team play. You will able to see tons of new photos in the Fan zone thanks to Nicki's happy trigger finger on the camera.
While I write this article as the View from on top of the posts, majority of my view came between the cheeks of "Drywall Dan" and "Jolly Joel Cringle", there must have been at least 30 scrums that game. Most scrums were the result of bad passing which could be blamed on the gale force winds but I am sure Coach Dean Murten will indirectly tell us different with lots of ball handling running at full pace.
The game featured a lot of hard running with people hanging onto Joel, Mike's stunning display of straight arms, and sideline to sideline runs by Jeff Noble and numerous breaks by Sarel. The Reapers main defense weapon was keeping the ball. While the Reaper men kept their opposition off the board it was more of the fact that they had possession for most of the game. Twice during the game the Reapers blocked kicks including one that happened in the Wild Oats end zone resulting in a try. There were a couple of close calls at the end of the game when the Wild Oats went deep with kicks but the crisis was diverted at the last second.
Two honorable mentions go out to Chris Scramstad for getting into the game after having both knees rebuilt in the off season and to Justin Lazerte for coming back after a rib injury.
I would be glad to add the Women's Recap if someone is willing to write one up. I had to take off after the game.
